How the numbers were reached
1. According to PNHP.ORG , 44,789 people died in 2008, Not included in that figure are the amount of people who die annually from shoddy medical care who do have insurance as a result of Doctors being directed by Insurance clerks on what treatments are acceptable ( meaning reimburable) . Initial reasearch shows that number is much higher. Once we have locked the sources down, the clock will be updated to reflect that reality.

We don't believe that the numbers above include people dying after rescissions or insurance was cancelled. This "phenomena" seems to happen to people who are not part of groups and buy Health Insurance for themselves and their family. As soon as a major claim , especially cancer, is put in, then each insurance company employs a veritable army of people who furiously dig through every single one of your medical records going back years. Even if applicant has brain cancer and forgot to put on the application about being treated for a broken arm, that's enough to terminate coverage. Needless to say, with Chemo running into 10s of thousands of dollars, many time people choose to discontinue. They are in a weakened state to fight the insurance company, and as proven recently during congressional hearings that they will not stop this practice as it saves them over 300 million a year in claims.

"According to the investigation, WellPoint, UnitedHealth and Assurant rescinded the policies of more than 20,000 people over a five-year period, which allowed the companies to avoid paying more than $300 million in medical claims."
2. According to Wikipedia.com , 2974 People died on 9/11. This of course does not count the soldiers who died after 9/11 in which 100s of billions have been committed which eventailly will turn into trillions. The Clock will be updated to refeclt that reality soon.

3. According to Google there are 8,765.81277 hours in a year.
